The origins of baby yoga are uncertain. It has been practiced in India for hundreds of years, but it is not clear whether it began as a separate discipline to adult yoga or whether it originated from instinctive movements which mothers practiced with their babies after birth.
Baby Yoga is based on Hatha yoga – the union of balance of body and mind – and incorporates massage, soft stretching and gentle movements to make it appropriate for babies, ensuring a fun and rewarding experience for both baby and you. Baby yoga is a beneficial interactive routine of carefully developed movements practiced by parent and baby. If you are looking for an excellent way to improve your baby’s health and impart strength to baby’s development, muscles and immune system as well as help them learn to breathe and be calm, then baby yoga is what you are looking for!
Aside from bonding and flexibility, Baby yoga can help with relaxation, relief from symptoms such as colic and can aid with your babies development. Baby yoga can also help strengthen your baby’s muscles, flexibility and is stimulating for your baby’s senses.
Bay-bee Yoga Classes:
In our classes, you will learn stretches, positions, holds, swings and dips. As adults, we will also practice deep breathing techniques and relaxation exercises, releasing tension, as well as yoga inspired stretches, easing you back into gentle exercise.
Our classes provide the building blocks to support babies’ development and enable them to reach milestones competently and confidently. There is also a sensory element to stimulate your baby.
Our Bay-bee Yoga classes are suitable from 8 weeks. There is no upper age limit but as the moves require you to hold and lift your baby, it is more determined by your ability to lift and hold them!
Our Undy Class, finishes with refreshments and a chance to chat. At Little Dinos, you will have dedicated stay and play time in the baby room before our yoga session. You will also receive supportive handouts to use at home.
